About me:
Since 2005 I have been with the Institute of Information and Process Management at the University of Applied Sciences St. Gallen where I am mainly responsible for R&D projects.
I received my PhD in Computer and Information Science at the University of Konstanz with a thesis on formal ontologies for natural language understanding. In 1992 I obtained my venia legendi at the University of Konstanz. From 1991 to 2002 I was head of the IT R&D group of Swiss Life in Zurich. The group was responsible for various research and in-house application projects in the areas of Semantic Web, Knowledge management, Data Mining and E-Tutoring, some of them having been funded by the EU or national funding agencies such as SNF and CTI.
My main research interests currently focus on applying data science in the area of digital health, in particular for patient self-management. Further research involves the application of Semantic Web technologies, reference modelling and model-driven development in various application scenarios.
